Greater Manchester Sports Partnership (GreaterSport) is an independent company limited by Guarantee and is a registered Charity. Greater Manchester Sports Partnership is a county network of local authorities, schools and clubs offering National Governing Bodies of Sport and other sports organisations a single point of access to their local networks. We are funded via a range of sources including Sport England, the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities and the Department of Health.
GreaterSports objectives include supporting The 2012 Legacy Action Plan which sets out the Government's ambition to get 2 million more adults active through sport and physical activity and the Governments ambition that every young person will have the opportunity to participate in 5 hours of PE and Sport a week at schools and in the community.
Coaches and coaching play a critical role in the achievement of the aspirations detailed above and GreaterSport recognises this. GreaterSport has worked tirelessly to provide leadership and connectivity in the development of coaching in Greater Manchester.
GreaterSports Workforce Development Plan recognises the role of the sport and active leisure workforce and its importance to the realisation of the county's vision of increasing levels of participation in sport and physical activity. Workforce development is education, training and development of paid and unpaid staff and means developing skills to ensure that all staff have the relevant skills, the ability and the confidence to carry out their role effectively.
GreaterSport are members of the North West Coaching Support Network and more locally have developed the Greater Manchester Coaching Support Network which has representation from all of the 10 Borough Coach Development Managers/Officers.
There are a number of opportunities to engage with GreaterSport programmes whether you are a club, an experienced coach or someone new to coaching. Further details can be found in the Support for Coaching Section on the right hand tab
